Transboundary aquifers: 2007 workshop presentations online

The presentations and the report of the workshop on transboundary aquifers, held at UNESCO on 29 and 30 May 2007, are now available for the first time. The workshop aimed to underline the importance of transboundary aquifers across the world and to affirm the interdisciplinary nature of water management as well as the necessity to create a common language between the different disciplines.

 
Finnish students visiting the Netherlands

From 29 March until 1 April 2010 a group of about 20 water sciences students from Finland (environmental engineering and water resources engineering) visited the Netherlands. The secretariate of the Netherlands National Committee IHP-HWRP arranged for a programme and hosts for 29 March 2010 and 1 April 2010.

 
New report on snow research

Snow research is an interdisciplinary field, as reflected in variety of books dedicated to snow and its various aspects. Such a wide range of interest and knowledge in snow makes common descriptions of snow as well as common measurement practices very desirable. The classification deals primarily with seasonal snow, even though many concepts in the present snow classification can also be applied to firn, which is the first stage in the formation of glacier ice.

 
Whirlpool Politics: Water as a Global Challenge

11–17 April 2010, Leiden • The Institute of Political Science at Leiden University (NL) will host an international conference in the field of political science. During the Academic Conference students will explore this year’s theme, Whirlpool Politics: Water as a Global Challenge.
